Love Him Or Hate Him, Jacob Szekely Is Here To Stay
All press is good press, right?
There’s a lot that can be said about Jacob ‘Zeke’ Szekely. Much of it is questionable.
The guy has done jail-time, has a flamboyant personality that could only be the product of post-Instagram America, and almost exclusively wears camouflage wetsuits.
But, you’re reading this article, I’m writing it, and Zeke is getting paid to surf.
Zeke is a part of our industry, and he’s likely here to stay (as long as he doesn’t get caught trespassing on any golf courses.) He’s created a niche for himself, a brand, even — and it doesn’t seem like a handful of negative comments are slowing him down. The guy even called Noa Deane out on Instagram for viewing his stories but not following — who the hell does that?
Zeke does.
He was incredible in Stab Highway, but not without rubbing multiple surfers the wrong way. Other teammates of his however, said he was great company, that he is loyal to the bone and that he would do just about anything to help his friends out.
And truthfully, he spews positivity, even if it is often shamelessly self-promotional.
Case in point, to accompany his new movie ‘Zeke and Destroy’ he gave us this sentiment.
“I’m so hyped to show this film to the rest of the world. Just tryna inspire the youth to get OTC! Off the couch, off the cocaine, outside and off the chain!”
Poetry.
