“I’ve been wondering about this. If one person is out of an event for injury, someone replaces them. If Filipe gets hurt now would he maintain his spot for the title? Ethan will only drop one spot whether he were to surf and lose or not surf at all. With any new format there are things to be worked out. I personally think the next person should fill in. If four people were injured there would just be a default winner in this scenario which defeats the purpose of a surf off. Medina coming from nowhere to win would be a big story.”
