Kelly Slater And Partner Kalani Miller Announce Pregnancy

Today, after spending a week side-stepping sloppy Supertubos to stand in Kirra funnels, 11x World Champion Kelly Slater took to Instagram for a far more personal purpose. 

With a tastefully collated black and white video, the most accomplished surfer of all time and his partner, successful swimwear entrepreneur Kalani Miller, announced the expectation of their first child together. 

Within a few hours, over 3,500 people commented, sharing their unanimous congratulations.

“Best news. Your baby will be the luckiest grom ever! They are going to be so spoiled by uncles and aunties around the world. Dream life,” wrote Taylor Steele.

The child will be the couple’s first together, but Slater’s second.

His first daughter, Taylor Slater, was born on June 6, 1996, in Florida. Through it’s duration, their relationship has remained largely out of the limelight. Taylor is a noted artist, who has used her platform to address a number of large scale environmental issues.

Kelly and Kalani’s announcement comes in the thick of always-present retirement rumors, and certainly adds fodder for anyone speculating at the 52-year-old’s impending departure from the full-time CT circuit.

In a 2020 interview, Kalani said that she could see herself having ‘two or three’ children with Kelly, and that it would be ‘interesting to see him having to put his competitive nature aside to put a baby first.”
