Another day, another envy-inducing edit from the Mentawai Islands. 

While men and women on Championship Tour watched subpar G-Land and threw a jungle rager in early June, a roster of Red Bull a-listers and up-and-comers hopped on a yacht for a two-week extravaganza around Sumatra’s western archipelago. 

You likely didn’t need a reminder, but the Mentawai Islands boast some remarkably diverse lineups. Macaronis is one of the best lefthand playgrounds on earth. Hollow Trees provides fun runners before going full Transformers mode and flexing scarily perfect Lance’s Right. There are a hundred other fun-to-exceptional waves in between (and beyond), but the Red Bull team seemed happy to confine themselves to the main two.

The cast includes Adriano de Souza, Caroline Marks, Jarvis Earle, Leon Glatzer, Dimitri Poulos, Conor Maguire, Natxo Gonzalez, Izzi Gomez and Bronson Meydi. 

From afar, it’s easy to become desensitized to the timeless Ments imagery that is a staple in surf magazines and news feeds. But when you’re there, witnessing the power of the Indian Ocean, you’d be scrambling to get off the boat, too.
