Has The WSL’s Forecast Curse Been Lifted With E-Lo’s Disappearance?
Nine minutes of very enjoyable J-Bay warmups.
In a year of marginal wave quality and tumultuous comment sections, many WSL observers have noted that the swell at each venue has seemed to pulse just before — and after — the CT window is open (see: Pipeline, Portugal, El Sal, and Rio).
Multiple events have been held in barely watchable slop.
Though no-one can be blamed empirically, it is mighty coincidental that the forecast for the first event after E-Lo’s untimely departure looks this good.
In our event preview, Duncan Scott told us, “It’s truly a surfer’s event. They get to put on their greatest show, and if you’ve got something special, it’ll show. By contrast, if you do a muscle snap, go along a bit, muscle snap, miss a section, muscle snap, well that’ll show too.”
Above and below are nine minutes of warmups from the fellas who have something special.
