As Tom De Souza wrote in our recent Bells Preview, there have been 31 different champs in the 48 CT events at Bells, and more than half of them have been Aussies.

Six of the seven most recent on the men’s side will surf in this year’s event, with only John John missing from the cohort of Jordy (2017), Italo (2018), Filipe (2022), Ethan (2023), Cole (2024) and Jack (2025).

So, who should you bet on?

Well, our resident punter Mikey C hopped on with Erik Apple from betonline.ag to talk about it. Though you may not be familiar with his chiseled features, Erik is undeniably one of the most unique characters in surfing. He’s a former MMA fighter and longtime bodyboarder, who was Sunny Garcia’s best friend and roommate.
