In partnership with Billabong

Last week, we organized a giveaway for our Stab Premium members with the help of Billabong.

The premise was simple — put your details into our digital survey box and maybe you’ll get a couple hours to surf with the Bong team in the desert.

Yesterday, Billabong made good on our promise and sent four Premium disciples out to the Palm Springs Surf Club for a movie premiere turned surf session turned open bar.

“We just wanted to do some fun events and stuff this summer, to remind everyone that Billabong isn’t going anywhere,” said Dane Jefferys from Bong. “We’re calling it the Know The Feeling tour. We’re going through California stopping at surf shops right now, and we’ll be on the East Coast in September. Everyone is welcome to join, all the events are free entry. Come hang.”

As the sun beat down over the San Jacinto mountains, the shimmer of chlorinated wedges shone in bright contrast to the desert haze. Eithan Osborne wore a seashell belly-chain as he packed a few artificial mutant teepees and Ewe Wong chucked her fins towards the pool deck, while a pack of onlookers drank various liqueurs in the small pools above the big pool.

Better than a 3pm Zoom call.

A cornucopia of free Billabong shin-length boardies was snatched up by everyone in attendance, a subtle bassline burst from the canopied bar, and for a hazy moment, it might’ve felt like the surf industry was in its heyday.

Must have been the 108 degree heat.

Alongside the roster of professional waveriding talent, Stab Premium lottery winners Nate Werdmuller, Julianna Joss, Jeff Mramor, and Braden Zischke collected a handful of hours in the pool.

“Fuck that slab wave is so sick,” laughed Nate. “I fully got planted on the bottom when I fell.”

Shion Crawford and the most perilous pool bathymetry in North America.

Voted by Macy Callaghan, Josie Prendergast, and Ewe Wong, our Premium member Julianna won the honorary MVP of her session.

“Josie Prendergast is literally my favorite surfer and she was just cheering me on the whole time,” said Julianna. “It was insane. Getting to chill with my surfing heroes was the coolest experience ever.”

Julianna and the girls.

If you’re around, Billabong is doing a premiere of their new film tonight at South Coast Surf Shop in San Diego. Otherwise, scroll down for a gallery from yesterday.
