Clay Marzo and Mason Ho Play Indo Tube Tango
Is it possible to have too much fun?
Pablo Picasso once said, “Every child is an artist, the problem is staying an artist when you grow up.”
To paraphrase the great Spanish painter, we tend to fall into a routine as we age. More responsibility is heaped on our growing shoulders, and we lean on automation because it requires less brainpower. We fall in line with what’s comfortable, and this applies to many aspects of life, from commuting to working to eating, and of course, surfing. It can be hard to find the time and effort to truly stand out.
Fortunately for us, Mason Ho and Clay Marzo have solved Picaso’s aforementioned dilemma. With childlike enthusiasm, the two have become some of the most creative and artistic minds in surfing today. See: the Clayback and Mason’s reverse pigdog.
While their technical ability on a surfboard is more advanced than most humans could ever hope for, their greatest strength might be their consistency to pull rabbits out of their boardshorts with a signature style and flair all their own.
Mason and Clay recently linked up in Indonesia to paint the watery canvas that is Desert Point. It’s definitely not the best DP we’ve seen, but speeding cylinders over exposed reefs have never stopped these two before. They still made a fine work of art.
