Australian Royalty Puts Andy-Inspired 6’6 Through Its Paces
Micah Margieson does dad proud.
Surfers re-invigorating the rail-length fetish of the noughties isn’t new — just ask Creed McTaggart.
Yet, no matter how many times we see it, a rail-heavy roundhouse on a 6’6 will never not look pretty.
So, watching Micah Margieson draw lines on a 6’6 Chilli A2 — the model designed for Andy Irons — makes us smile. For those of you who don’t know, Micah’s dad is Brenden ‘Margo’ Margieson, once dubbed “the best free-surfer in the world” by Surfing Life.
If you remember Margo, you’ll remember him with quite a bit of board in front of him, and Micah has happily adopted the habit.
“I just wanted to ride a long board and do some fuckin’ cutties, I think it’s cool to hold rail a bit longer,” Micah laughs. “Dad’s always ridden heaps longer boards, and I feel like that has influenced me in a way. My shortboards are always 2 or 3 inches longer than me, that’s just how I was brought up. I feel like extra length suits my style of surfing. I enjoy it more than trying to race down the line and do a massive punt.”

We back it.
Enjoy.
