The Ho Siblings, Harry Bryant, And Nathan Hedge Collude Against The Crowd At Ulus.
Rory Pringle’s latest dispatch.
With Uluwatu’s classic, sultry left in danger of destruction, Mason and Coco Ho have just released a video reminding us just how good of a thing the surfing world stands to lose.
This eight-minute comfort reel from Mason’s always-SSOTY-nominated YouTube channel highlights just how fun this wave that Gerry Lopez shared with the world in 1974 still is for those lucky enough to travel there.
We won’t editorialize too much here — just watch it. If you want to listen to the raw, live audio, go for it. But for this clip, we recommend turning the volume off, picking a song of your choice (here’s mine), clicking play on your lunch break, and perhaps checking flight costs for the region.
Couple interesting things here at work though: Mason’s spent considerably more time here than Coco and “showed her around the reef” (she learns quick), Harry Bryant’s no pump tube-riding is exquisite; the man is continuing his heater since Motel Hell, and Nathan Hedge still has it.
To get some parasocial tutoring from Mason himself, take another look at Mason’s Cheat Codes — where he narrows in on having the most fun possible in the water. And, for that matter, check out Coco’s Cheat Codes — centered on making travel suck less.
And for more sibling sorcery from Mason and Coco, watch our full and proper Electric Acid Surfboard Test with Mason and Coco Ho here.
Long live Ulus.
