70-YO Dies At URBNSURF Sydney
The park has been closed until further notice.
A man has died following an incident at the URBNSURF wavepool in Sydney.
Emergency services were called to URBNSURF at Sydney Olympic Park shortly before midday on Wednesday after a 70-year-old man fell off his board and failed to resurface. The man was pulled from the water and CPR was performed at the scene. He was taken to Concord Hospital in critical condition but passed away shortly after arriving.
In a statement, the surf park announced the temporary closure of the facility following the guest’s “medical episode.” “The URBNSURF team responded promptly to provide support and care for the guest before paramedics arrived,” they told The Daily Telegraph. “Our main priority is the health, safety, and wellbeing of our guests and staff, and our thoughts are with them at this time.”
The newly opened surf pool will remain closed until further notice. Police are investigating the incident, and a report will be prepared for the coroner. The death is not considered suspicious.
