Is This The Biggest Wave Ever Made At Teahupoo?
Time to get the rulers out.
On Friday the 13th August 2021, Matahi Drollet caught a wave.
According to Tim McKenna
@matahidrollet and his brother @manoa_drollet waited 9 hours without taking one wave out the back of the Teahupoo line up. At 5 pm this evening they finally to scored the Bomb of the Friday 13th Swell. Patience pays off.
Countless of XXL waves have been caught over the past few days, few have been ridden out of. The swell has been so big it’s knocked down houses in the town, sucked boats over the falls, and been responsible for some of the most large and scary waves ridden this year.
Give the state of emergency declared by Tahiti, the crew tackling it has been restricted mostly to the local core charger community Matahi and Manoa Drollet, Eimeo Czermak and Tikanui Smith to name a few.
