“It Was Like Cutting The Head Off The Snake In The First 10 Seconds”

While the broadcast of surfing’s Olympic debut has been about as entertaining as an extended stay at the DMV, the highlights are just alright.

This recap features the round 3 battle between US surfers John Florence and Kolohe Andino. Kolohe wasted no time throwing down a lofty slob reverse, which he rewarded with a ‘cut throat’ claim.

“It was like cutting the head off the snake in the first 10 seconds,” Kolohe told the Independent, “I was just overwhelmed with emotions, and that’s what I ended up doing.’’

Kolohe will face Kanoa Igarashi in the quarterfinals today, leaving the beheaded (and potentially limping) snake in the rearview.
