Stab Style Living is where we conspire to turn your fetid humpy into the sort of home where women feel comfortable laying spread-eagled, wings flapping.

Sound good? Awesome. Now, let’s start by retiring the decomposing surf posters on your walls and filling the blanks with something that shines. Relax, it don’t take much effort and it won’t burn holes in your pockets.

GO BIG

Cost $30 for three panels at £5 per square metre.

With the help of your local digital photography house you can blow up your own classic images and turn them into the Stab archives and plucked the three images you see pictured.

Make It happen:

  1. Choose your shot. If the image is a print and not a digital get it hi-res scanned. Most photo labs’11 do it they’II ream your ass, but they’ll do it.
  2. Talk to the staff at the photocopy joint, we spoke to lil’ Pete at Copiworld in Redfern, and ask what size they can print for you.
  3. When your prints are done take them home and stick em on the wall.
  4. If you so desire you can add colour to the black and white photocopies using paint.

FRAME IT UP

Cost: $100 Photographs and posters look so much sweeter encased in glass. A busy cluster of well positioned frames will turn a naked wall into a stylish feature.

Make It happen;

  1. Buying frames ain’t cheap, a nice A3 model from David Jones can cost up to $100. To ensure you get more fames for your money go to two-dollar stores and pick up a wad of pics in frames. You’ll be able to get various sized, frames for no more than, yup you guessed it, two bits apiece.
  2. When you get home take the old pic and glass out and spray paint black or white.
  3. Select worthy images to fill the frames. We suggest cool postcards, photos of mates and snaps from trips OS. Make sure you get a good mix of colour and black and whites prints.
  4. Before you bang hooks in the wall lay the frames out on the floor and get an idea of where you want each one to be positioned.
  5. Put as many frames as you want but keep at least an inch of space between each picture so things don’t look too cramped.

Do you have off-white kinda yellow coloured walls? Yeah? Then paint em proper white. If you’re renting and think you’re gonna be there for a while, ask the landlord if you can add a new coat for them. Most of the time they’re cool.

Canvas

Cost: £100 and up depending a piece oi cloth stretched over four presented on it is worthy it can set cool for more than a decade. Think whether it’s a photo or a photo oi printed onto a canvas. It looks artwork. Here at Stab, if it ain’t created digital files of two of our them canvasised. The result… outstanding!

Make it happen:

  1. Find a couple of canvas-printing joints near you and play them off for a sweeter deal. Regional folk may have to  venture out of the sticks a little to find a printer with the technology to print on canvas. Expect to pay 100 skins around 40cm x 60cm.
  2. Pick the size of the canvas you’d like- the price will probably help you decide.
  3. When choosing the image make it count, canvas is extremely durable so this thing is likely to kick around for a while.
  4. Jump on a computer and rescale the image to fit the canvas, save it as a JPEG and burn it to CD. If you don’t have a computer the printer will be able to manipulate your digital photos.
  5. Hammer a nail in the wall and hang your prize. Boo-yar!

After an original artwork?
Sniff online. Artists with time to manage a website generally aren’t the most successful in the game. If you discover good art before the arteest becomes recognised you could get something cool for under $200. Art galleries are another good place to pursue original art. If you still can’t find reasonably priced pieces worthy of space on your walls, go to Bali. The latest craze, much to the disgust of the struggling art fag, is to get an original piece you like ripped off by a little Balinese man. All you got to do is take a photo to Indo of the piece you want imitated and ask around to find the best Barlo for the job. Once you’ve got your canvas roll it up, bring it home, get it stretched and hang it up for under 100
bucks. Bagus!
