Please Don’t Bring A Center Fin To France This Week
William Aliotti’s Twin Fin Invitational is back for its second edition.
Last year, William Aliotti gathered 28 surfers and 56 total fins together for something bearing resemblance to a surf competition.
The concept: Ride a twin fin.
The criteria: Style, flow, and innovative maneuvers.
The result: The surf went on the cook. Victor Bernardo and Ainara Aymat won, as voted by their fellow competitors.
Now, the event is back for its second edition from October 21 – 28. It’s got a new location in Vieux-Boucau, about a 20-minute drive north of Hossegor’s main beachies, deeper into the forest.
This year’s list includes newcomers in the form of Tom Curren, Alex Knost, Noah Lane, Cam Richards, Gearoid McDaid, Aritz Aranburu, Eli Beukes, Lee-Ann Curren, Pat Curren, Garazi Sánchez, Pacha Lina, Giada Legati, Zoe Jaeckin, and Erwin Bliss, along with OG competitors icons Ozzy Wright, Victor Bernardo, Ainara Aymat, Adrien Toyon, Maud Le Car, Miguel Blanco, Victoria Vergara, Vincent Duvignac, Gony Zubizarreta, and Sam Piter.
As is the case at any good surf event, evenings are loaded with activites that will make sleep difficult, which is especially convenient this year. Southwest France is getting slapped by a storm this week, bringing rain, too much swell, and way too much wind. However, the event only takes two days to run — and there’s reason to be optimistic about good surf this weekend.
If you’re around, join ’em.
Otherwise, we’ll let you know how it goes down.
