Rookie phenom, Griffin Colapinto was bred by the cobblestones of San Clemente and the beach breaks of Playa Hermosa. Now, the pad that introduced young Griff to the hollow fare is for sale for $165k.

“It’s sick, there are all kinds of different waves in the area. From beach breaks to reefs, there’s a lot of options,” Griffin told Stab about the home.

As Griff and his brother Crosby (who will be a household name in the next few years) now spend most their time on the road, their father Mitch has decided it’s time to pass his Las Brisas Resort property on.

“It’s full pura vida, pure living. It’s so mellow,” says Mitch. “There are so many options for surfers of all levels, from beginner waves down around Jaco, to more Indo-style reef breaks, and there are miles of peaks to be found around Hermosa.”

Offered by International Surf Properties, the Colapinto’s Las Brisas location is 1,300 square feet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It’s also got a pool, restaurant and maid service on the property. It’s a good fit for somebody looking to indulge in the tropic surf life but that doesn’t want to go to feral.

For friends, family and children… if you have them.

“What’s really great about this house is that there’s also a small hotel and eight cabinas on the property, so you can enjoy all of the amenities but also have the privacy of having your own house,” explains Mitch. “It’s perfect if you’re going down there with your family, but it’s also great if you want to go with a bigger group because they can rent out the cabinas and stuff. It’s a really unique, user-friendly set-up.”

As noted, there are great waves for beginners in nearby Jaco, and five minutes away is where Griffin, his brother and their friends honed their skills in quality surf. And when your shoulders are shot and the sunburn’s too much to bear, “there’s great fishing right out of the Los Suenos harbor,” continues Mitch. “There are the crocodile tours, the national forests with the monkeys, zip-lining and all of that.”

With surf year-round, for the Colapinto clan it proved to be an ideal escape for summer vacation, which falls during the rainy season when the river mouths are blown out and the sandbars are best. But it’s also an ideal retreat for Thanksgiving, Christmas or Spring Break.

Also, a new highway recently went in and it’s now possible to get from the San Jose airport to the house in 45 minutes. A trip that would have previously taken two hours.

“You can take the red eye out of LAX, land in Costa Rica at 6 am and be in the water by 8. I think it’s an easier trip than getting to Hawaii,” added Mitch.

“We spent a lot of time down there as kids,” says Griff. “It was the perfect place to just go surf and cruise and get away from everything. It’s a bummer we’re selling it, but for where we’re at in our lives, I guess it’s somebody else’s turn to enjoy it.”
