The Most Agreeable Left Sandbar We Ever Did See

The best part about living on the Outer Banks is that there’s always a sandbar somewhere. The worst part about living on the Outer Banks is having to find it. 

On any given a swell, there’s at least one point along the vast sand highway where the waves break in both a linear and cylindrical fashion. The trick is locating that particular patch of sand, not on the day of the swell—as that would be a complete waste of quality surf time—but in the days and weeks leading up to it. 

Having lived in OBX for nearly 30 years, Brett Barley has mastered this art, which is how he and his friends found themselves sharing day-long tubes at a most agreeable left bank on a recent Atlantic swell. 

Chances are, this particular spit has already been washed out to sea, but the memories of its fleeting existence will live on eternally (thanks internet).
