Jon Pyzel Didn’t Shape John John’s Title-Winning Surfboard?
Insights into the surfboard frenzy which led to Florence’s third World Title.
“The advent of the shaping machine and all of the international surfboard businesses eventually leads into licensing,” Jon Pyzel told me a couple months ago.
“At some point, it didn’t make sense for me to go to all of these different regions where we sell boards, so I built relationships with all of the in-house shapers in all of these factories. Now, we have boards being built in every continent, and I have confidence in all of our guys. John won Trestles this year on a board that my shaper DJ in San Diego made for him a month before. That’s the kind of people that we have working for us and the connection that we have, it’s pretty special.”
