Become Enamored With Michael February On This Hawaiian Afternoon

South Africa’s Mikey February is one good looking, charming hunk of man.

His style on a surfboard is undeniable. He’s smoother than fleece pajamas. His hands sit just so while airdropping into a wedgy tube. He can hit a section with absolute control while his lean frame follows in swoon-worthy fashion. Mikey surfs fast, but when he’s sliding down a wave’s face, everything slows down.

On land, Mikey is much of the same. He’s soft-spoken and polite. He drives vintage cars, wears thick-framed sunglasses and gets pumped to surf off Marvin Gaye and a groovy sub-genre called Afrofunk.

One afternoon in Hawaii at the Vans house, filmer and photographers, Jimmy Wilson and Reagan Ritchie, plopped Mikey in the backyard that shared a border with the North Shore’s coarse sand and asked a few questions.
