Watch: A Young Hawaiian Go Absolutely Mad At Kandui Lefts

Noa Mizuno charging during one of the best Kandui runs in ages.

With plans for a prolonged Indo stay already in the works, young Hawaiian goofyfoot Noa Mizuno pulled the trigger early, after seeing a massive purple blob pop up suddenly, with a proper swell headed straight for Kandui.

Evidenced in the absolute feast of big blue barrels the 19-year-old came back with (as seen in the clip above), Noa’s got game in the heavy hollow stuff, and we wanted to know a little more about the mission. Here’s Noa:

“So basically it was a last minute trip—thankfully Kandui Resort had a few open spots left, when we saw that crazy swell come through.

“I hadn’t surfed Kandui yet. I was planning on spending a month in Indo, just in Bali, and shooting all around the other islands. But with that forecast, I was like: Fuck. That. [Laughs].

“We immediately called them up and they were kind enough to let us come. (Thanks to Justis St. John and all the guys at the resort.)”

“That run of swell was crazy,” says Noa.

That run of swell was crazy. Apparently some of the best they’ve had in forever. Like, I’ve actually never been so surfed out in so long (although that’s something so dumb to say, being a teenager). On some days the waves were firing and we were so blownout we couldn’t even move.

I brought over a 5’7 Stretch swallow tail “2×4″, and a 5’9 Mayhem Driver round rail, and traveled with my friend Alex Pendleton from Hawaiii, met with Nate Behl, and Nic Von Rupp flew over from Bali. Epic crew.”

So what’s next for the teenage tube pig?

“Honestly, just having a ball. Triple crown coming up. I’ll get in another secret strike sometime soon. DJing some gigs home. Starting a new little business with my sis. It’s been a fckn blast. Grateful for all of it.”
