Margo’s Son Follows In His Father’s Foot Placement

Micah Margieson prefers to keep his rails in the water.

Were you aware that the great Brenden ‘Margo’ Margieson has a son? Well, he does, and his son Micah is following the line of his father.

He’s 17-years old, and while that’s significantly older than most grom’s debuts, Micah’s first clip has a point of difference. There’s not a single air.

Following the foundations laid before him Micah prefers to keep his rail wet and relatively buried. For a lightly framed teen, he’s more than capable of blowing the back out of one, and pushing his fin boxes to their outer limits.

To satiate our own interest (and likely yours), we flicked Micah a few brief and ill-considered questions.

Read below!

Stab: Michah, how you going man? Going to post that clip. Can I hit you with a couple Q’s?

Micah: Good, thank you! Yeah for sure.

Sick, first off, how old are you? And where are you from?

Micah: 17 years of age. I’m living at Cabarita, 20 mins down the coast from the Goldy.

You’re laying rail in this clip, how much of your approach is influenced by your dad and that generation?

I really look up to a lot of surfers from dad’s generation: Poncho, Ros Williams, and Rob Machado, all those types of rippers; their styles, rail games and the way they destroy the back out of waves.

As we all do! What about this generation.

Dane Reynolds. Full stop.

[Laughs] The best possible answer. This is your first clip right? Next time we hear of you will it be in  jersey or putting out another edit?

I’m about to head down to the Australia titles representing NSW. Next year I’m planning to do some pro juniors and want to put out another clip too [Author’s note: hopefully it’s longer]. Oh, and yeah, it’s my first clip.

A flightless debut! Since there’s no airs, what do you think about that type of surfing?

I think airs are awesome but I’d prefer to keep my rails in the water. Those guys like Dakoda Walters are gnarly, they blow my mind. Full respect.

Alright, weird one, favourite subject at school and why?

Art for sure. There’s no boundaries and a lot of my inspiration [in art] stems from surfing and the ocean.

Last one, who’s winning the World Title?

Julian for sure!

Watch Micah’s flightless debut up top, we recommend!
