Here’s How Newport Beach Came To Be The HiFi Mecca We Know Today
Billabong dives into the history of the affluent North OC coast.
Behind the Orange Curtain, south of Surf City, sits Newport Beach.
The “Hottest 100 Yards,” “Echo Beach,” “Newps,” it’s worn a lot of names over the years, but the fact of the business is, from River Jetties, to 56th Street, Blacks, Newport Point and the Wedge, for generations it’s remained a hotbed of talent.
The Newport Beach Boardriders Club just teamed up with Billabong to peel back the veneer and offer up a locals-only perspective of what the place is really about. Sometimes it pumps, most of the times it doesn’t, but it’s home and they love it just the same.
Hit play, it’s time for some surf history.
