Don’t you just love the candid flavour of the Mark Occhilupo interview! Occ-Cast number three with 24-year-old tour rookie Jack Freestone just went live and it’s no less entertaining than the previous two (that featured Joel Parkinson and Kelly Slater). Sure, there’s no retirement bombs or secrets of the greatest wave pool in the world, but Occ’s such a natural at getting the best out of his guests, and a few of the exchanges in this episode are brilliant.

Mr Freestone turns the questions around at one point and and asks Occ if he’d rather win a gold medal or the Billabong Pro to which he replies, “I’d rather win the gold! I would go home, melt it down and sell it. Those things are pure gold right?” Occy goes on later to reveal his method of dealing with Snapper crowds, “Just go with a smile on your face and usually it works out.” The discussion moves between sips of beer to touch on Miss Alana Blanchard, life as a QS grinder and Occ’s very recent family addition (congrats to the extended Occhilupo family).
