Jeremy Flores Just Won The Pipe Masters

In the final second vs World Champ John John Florence.

Well, I thought John Florence did it. Thought he did all of it. The Title. The Pipe Masters. The Trip… well, maybe not all of it. Young Griff Colapinto won the Triple Crown. I had just about hit the publish button when, with seconds remaining in the final, Jeremy Flores won his second Pipe Masters against Jonathan Jonathan Florence.

Our dear Michael Ciaramella is currently down on the sand, feverishly tapping notes into his Motorola Razr, hopelessly searching for Wifi. He’s probably a little sweaty. And I’d assume he has coarse sand in his coarse, yet regal beard.

While Michael slaves over his firsthand account (coming first thing mañana), let’s take this time to appreciate Jeremy for his achievements and candor.

Here he is winning JJF his world title:

And while you may not have assumed this based on his fiery character, Jeremy was actually sad to interfere with the World Title race. In his victory speech, he said that the battle should have been between John and Gabs, and that he felt weird about getting in the middle of it. Not weird enough to lay down against either of them, though.

Here he is slithering past John in he dying seconds:

Just like he did to KP in 2010, Jeremy waited and waited and waited until the wave finally arrived and he rode it to victory. I’m pretty sure he only caught two waves in his Teahupo’o victory against Medina as well. The dude is like a monk ninja when it comes to waiting for quality waves and then surfing them.
