Fire Set To The Lunada Bay Demolition Equipment

Going down with a fight.

But there was an obituary! It was tasteful, classy, used “RIP” and everything. The Bay Boys, are they dead? Fizzling out with short, shallow breaths? Maybe. But have they flatlined? Well, we can’t say for sure.

Yesterday, it was reported by the LA Times that, according to the police, “vandals scratched the paint of several trucks in the staging area, slashed fabric containers used to carry debris and set fire to equipment stored at the structure, including an air compressor used to power jackhammers.”

Can you blame the vandals? That fort was incredible. 30 years went into building that belle. Yes, the Bay Boys probably should have refrained from the assaults, the hucking of rocks and dirt clods and the slashing of tires. Although, that’s localism, right? But, there’s no tolerance for localism of that calibre in this user-friendly age of 2016; you get hit with a class-action lawsuit for that. Especially if it takes place in an area as affluent and trust fund-y as Palo Verdes.

The trucks and equipment were being used by Ampco Contracting INC., a demolition company that according to the LA Times, “received a $61,000 contract from Palos Verdes Estates to raze the shelter located on Rocky Point adjacent to one of the best big wave spots in California.”

And now, the police are investigating. No official arrests have been made, according to the authorities. “City officials say all the work, including restoration of the site and clean-up of debris, should be completed by Friday,” states the LA Times.
