Dane Reynolds’ French quiver (and what the thieves stole)
If you’re like us, then anything to do with Dane Reynolds is of interest to you. This includes what kinda boards he’s riding. And, say, him getting robbed. Who doesn’t wanna know what’s under the feet of the world’s most exciting surfer, and what misfortunes befall him? So, in the interest of revelation and insight, Stab asked Travis Lee from Channel Islands to offer a rundown of what Dane tucked into his coffin for France. What Trav came back with was a 5’7″ Neck Beard, a 6’0″ DFR, a 5’11” Fred Rubble, a 5’8″ Weirdo Ripper, a 6’0″ Proton and a 5’11” that Dane hand-shaped from blank in his bay at home. Did you know he has a shaping bay at home? (See them all below.) It ain’t all peachy, however. While Dane was asleep in bed at his Hossegor digs last night, dreaming of whatever it is a surfer like Dane dreams about, a coupla thieves broke into the house and scooped three boards outta the living room (including his Proton and Rubble). Kinda creepy… will the boards turn up on a surfboard shop rack, or be erected in a personal shrine, never to feel salt water again? You’ll find out more about the Weirdo Ripper this month, but as for the board Dane hand-shaped, it’s a 5’11” x 19″ x 2′ 3/8″ with an Ed Templeton-esque drawing and old school CI logo. Perhaps you’ll see it in contest, perhaps in Marine Layer‘s Craig Anderson film (which Dane arrived early in France to shoot for).
