Mikey Wright Is A Bully On The Playground
Riding JS foam that allows for aggression in summer slop.
Mikey Wright’s a powerful surfer that grovels better than most. Could the mop waving behind his neck possess aerodynamic abilities, catapulting him above lip in knee-high conditions? At six foot and just shy of eighty kegs, the youngest Wright has been stockpiling JS crafts tuned up for the South Coast’s horrendous spring waves, as he continues his stampede towards ‘CT qualification.
Here’s Wright’s new foam, allowing for gorgeous displays in dull conditions:
HYFI NITRO – 5’7″ x 19 5/8″ x 2 3/8″ x 28.5L
Wright’s 5’7″ ‘Hyfi-Nitro’ is a relatively flat, full-nosed, chunky-railed sled built to retain speed in flat sections. Deeper concaves add lift and liveliness, plus extra drive, and a slightly pulled-in tail retains spring where most grovelers go stale. Glassed with JS Hyfi technology and available in five fin set-up.
HYFI PSYCHO NITRO – 5’5″ x 19 3/4″ x 2 1/2″ x 29.3L
This year the ‘Hyfi Psycho Nitro,’ the Nitro’s rambunctious little brother, joined the roster. Riding one at 5’5″ and 29.3 litres, Wright has more meat under his chest and a flat rocker for easy paddling and effortless acceleration. The Hyfi flex provides crucial pop and projection in gutless conditions. A rolled-v through nose runs into a single concave under the front foot, a double between the fins, and all wrapped up by a slight-v through the pinched swallow tail. These stubby little rockets come stock with five fins, and are also available in JS hybrid fibre technology.
