Who Got The Hot Sauce @ Trestles?

Filipe, Jack and Ethan’s scoville scale = high.

It’s final’s day soon.

The waiting period runs from Sept 8-16. Once the WSL’s Senior Vice President of Tours and Competition (WSLSVPOTAC) Jessi Miley-Dyer has her coffee and makes the call, an entire day of competition will run, taking a minimum of 10 heats and a maximum of 12 (final round is the best of three). The day will finish with 2022’s newly-crowned World Champions drinking bubbles before a hellish e-bike exodus ensues.

Exciting stuff.

There is also a good chance that competition runs on the opening day. According to Surfline’s current 16-day forecast, Lowers may have its best conditions on the first day of the window (Thursday US/Friday AUS) before the swell drops off later in the week.

There will be plenty more freesurf action to come pre-Final’s Day. For now, sample these clips of the men’s top three in #1 Filipe Toledo, #2 Jack Robbo and #3 Ethan Ewing and tell us who you think looks spicy.

Filipe has made the finals at Lower Trestles twice preciously, winning one final (2017, vs Jordy Smith).
This year Jack has beaten Fil 2-0 and made three of the past six finals.
In his first year on tour (2017), Ethan had only five heat wins and a 20% winning percentage. This season he has won 22 heats and flexes a 61% winning percentage.

Who ya got?
