Deoxyribonucleic Acid contains genetic information responsible for the development and function of an organism and allows this information to be passed from one generation down to the next.

Siblings are said to share about 50% of the same DNA. The 50% that Griffin and Crosby Colapinto have in common appears to contain detailed information about how to ride a wave — or perhaps that came from growing up at Lowers.

Either way, it’s working.

23-year-old Griffin won his first 2 CT event earlier this year and is currently ranked 3rd in the world. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Crosby has spent the last few years progressing at an absurdist rate, and people noticed — including Stab. He was invited to Stab High in 2020 and won the Pipe Masters portion of last year’s Digital Triple Crown. Crosby is already capable of the type of surfing that wins CT heats, and he’s poised to make a CS run and join his brother in the big leagues.

This is the focus of Stab’s new film: DNA: The Colapinto Brothers, presented by Monster Energy

Sibling relationships and rivalries have been a driving source for some of the world’s best surfers over the years. DNA allows us to hear from Mick Fanning, Nathan and Christian Fletcher, Seth and Josh Moniz, and the Gudauskas brothers about how they were influenced by that dynamic and how they view the Colapinto brothers.

The film also reveals the A+ clips Griffin and Crosby have been hoarding from trips to Indonesia, Mexico, and Hawaii over the past year. If, for any reason, you question the possibility of these two sharing a CT podium within the next few years, we encourage you to press play.
