The Channel Islands Board Conference, La Graviere, France

The Jordy Smith and Dane Reynolds match-up was one of many anti-climactic round three heats at the Quiksilver Pro, France today. On bloated La Graviere peaks, two of surfing’s biggest hypebeasts faced-off with only a coupla heated moments (Jordy’s tail-release, Dane’s finner-reverse). The pair’s rivalry, if there even is one, sure seems more lax than some of surfing’s past rivalries like, say, that of Kelly and Andy, or Kelly and Mick. For example, y’see (from left) Dane, CI’s Trav Lee, Kelly and Jordy here? This is a few minutes after Dane and Jordy’s v-anticipated heat and the group are talking board design.
