Photolyfe: Peter ‘Bosko’ Boskovic

Welcome to PhotoLyfe, in which Stab’s favourite photographers answer questions about themselves with their own images. It’s that old picture-tells-a-thousand-words chestnut but with more colour and pop. It’s a way to cut out all the bullshit. It’s like jacking into the main vein of those who supply us with exquisite surf imagery every day. Give thanks by studying each image with a more careful eye than ever! Today, meet Mr Peter Boskovic. Or, more pertinently, reacquaint yourself with Bosko, who’s work you’ve seen countless times whether you know it or not. A crucial part of surfing’s visual component and one of the most respected of Australian photographers, the surfing world’s had the pleasure of Bosko’s compositions for 25 years now. He first picked up a shooter to prove he could point it better than his dad, and soon realised his eye could be where his future lay (he soon found this to be true). Bosko’s biggest strength is access – he’s friendly with the best, which happens after so long in the game – but it’s all built on a foundation of strong visual principles, a classic style and an impressive body of work. Put your feet up and get a little lost below… Also, how about the portrait of young Bosky above? Ain’t it everything! And and and, follow the gent on Instagram @boskophoto – srsly. 1. Describe yourself.    2. Where are you from?   3. What got you into photography?   4. Where do you wish you were right now?   5. What inspires you?   6. Who’s your favourite person to photograph?   7. What makes the best photograph?   8. What’s your favourite weapon?   9. Describe your mood right now?   10. What else should we know about you?
