This Morning At The Wedge With Rob Machado, Kalani Robb And More
One shark attack won’t keep So Cal’s finest out of the water.
After a week (plus)-long flat spell, Southern California finally got a little juice. It trickled in on Sunday, but was stifled in Newport by a shark attack 150 yards off the coast. Well, a suspected shark or seal attack… which has now by “experts” been confirmed as shark. The victim was wounded from her shoulder to torso and heavily bleeding. That’d have to be one very dynamic, ambitious seal.
From Sunday evening to Tuesday morning the beaches were closed to swimmers. And for the last couple of days, The Wedge did this all by its lonesome. But when the water opened for biz, it was go time. “I wouldn’t have gotten that barrelled anywhere else in California… today,” says a red-suited Rob Machado. Apologies to anyone looking to head there tomorrow, we probs just doubled the crowd.
