Taylor Knox, Mitch Crews And Why Baja’s Always A Good Idea
“Just Passing Through” Episode Nine.
Ahh, Baja, California’s great escape. Well, sort of, and not so much on the weekends. If you’re looking to surf the spots everyone knows, then you just drove across the border to surf with the same average Joe’s who frequent your locale. But that’s the beauty of the Baja strike, the search, the driving past the Doheny-Esq crowd at K-38, out of Rosarito, peering off the highway for mysto-peaks and trying to figure out how the hell to get to them. The spots that are easy to find draw a crowd. But with a little effort, and an adventurous spirit you can still score solely with whoever occupies your car. Here, Taylor and Crewsy make the journey down south and react the way any surfer does when they pull up to vacant, hollow waves: point, shout, suit up and run. When you don’t score in Baja, the trip, tacos, cervezas, farmacias and culture have their merit.
