There’s No Such Thing As Surfboard-Buyer’s Regret
A day of boards, music, burgers, and beer at the Boardcollector Surf Swap.
There’s no doubt that electronic commerce, aka buying and selling shit online, has an attractive expediency going for it. Which is why we’ve had a propensity to drift towards it in the modern age. Sacrificing the journey to the mom and pop shop down the street to wedge a few boards under your arm to “get the feel for them”, for clicking a button from the comfort of your couch when making purchases.
Which is why it’s easy to forget how fun a good old-fashioned community board swap is. Friends, burgers, live music and a bigger plethora of boards than a retired ex-pro’s backyard shed, all in one place. Whether you come through with a specific model in mind, or happen to walk away with a new stick that catches your reactionary eye, there’s no such thing as buyer’s remorse when it comes to surfboards; right?
On April 9, the Avalon Beach Bowling Club and Dunbar Park will be hosting the inaugural Boardcollector’s Surf Swap. An open-invitation soiree offering freshly-cooked grinds, craft beer, live tunes, and a generational selection of boards. Whether you like twin fins, single fins, bonzers, thrusters, longboards, or just grabbing a burger and a beer with some friends and looking at finely-tuned crafts in the park, there’s something for everyone. Nick Carroll and legendary surf journalist Phil Jarret will be coming by to give a talk, too. So, you might just learn something on top of all the fun.
