Surfing’s Queen Bee Anoints You Winner of A Shyama Buttenshaw Craft
Chosen by Stephanie Gilmore, gifted by Corona.
Now here’s a day maker.
What’s better than winning a surfboard crafted by Shyama Buttenshaw, dubbed by his thrusterness Simon Anderson as the “best” of the young Australian hand-shapers? Well, how about knowing that your entry was hand-selected, from thousands (admittedly whittled down to a shortlist by the desk jockeys at Stab HQ), by certified surf adonis, Miss Stephanie Gilmore.
Dear Stephanie wanted to choose the last two winners of our inaugural Electric Acid Surfboard Test (presented by Corona), and we’re glad she did. As appreciative as we are of your budding wit, combing through thousands of stanzas comparing descriptive merit is thirsty (ahem) work. So here’s the verse that took home the Shyama craft, chosen by the queen herself:
Steph with an unusually replicable swing on the Buttenshaw creation.
“Her surfing looks as freedom feels, always so effortless and peaceful as though she is one with the waves, like she is untouchable.” – Hayley.
Ahh, poetry! Stay tuned for the announcement of the final winner, where Steph picks her favourite entry to take home her favourite board, the Simon Jones, Morning of the Earth twinnie.
