Stab Recommends: 7 Products That Support The Cause
Put your money where your mouth is.
The events of the past few days have left many incensed and emotionally drained.
The current state of affairs here in the States has caught the world’s attention, with global citizens rising together in unity with those communities who have been subject to systematic oppression and discrimination. What began as protests calling for justice for George Floyd (his killers were just charged with second-degree murder in Minneapolis) has turned into a sweeping national debate regarding race.
While we know no one is checking Stab for ‘news’ on these issues, we have seen a number of our community members and those we admire outside of surfing offering their talents to raise money for a long list of charities giving to the cause. Below are 7 ways you can support justice and play an active role in this historically significant time.
Kolohe Andino’s personally-used Mayhem surfboards, for auction.
Kolohe Andino is a man with firmly-rooted principles. In response to what he’s called the “senseless death of George Floyd,” Brother is auctioning off one of his own Mayhem boards. The bidding starts at $250—drop your number (preferably including a comma) in his DMs.
Denim Tears ‘Cotton Peace Charity Tee’
Long time Kanye West creative collaborator and advocate for black agency throughout all of his projects, Tremaine Emory comes with this tee via his label Denim Tears. Featuring an amazing James Baldwin quote as the back print, this is truly like wearing history. All proceeds go to the Know Your Rights Camp.
Alimo “Lets Remember George Floyd” Print
The paddle out has long been a symbol of unity in the face of adversity for the surfers at large. This diverse paddle out print is available in a number of sizes, 100% of the proceeds going to the George Floyd Memorial GoFundMe.
Brain Dead x Blood Orange Tee
Brain Dead teams up with Dev Hynes for this Blood Orange x Brain Dead collaboration. They’ve put their e-com mastery to good use, doing over $300,000 in sales in just over a day—100% of proceeds will go to M4BL, which supports black-owned businesses in their relief process.
DJ Javier Print
Santa Barbara artist Dj Javier is a long time Stab favorite and vocal advocate for POC in the surf space. He brings the heat with this amazing print, of which all proceeds will be donated to Juneteenth SB.
Nathaniel Russel ‘Resist Fear Assist Love’ Tee
A revamp of his 2016 print, this message rings just as true today as it did four years ago. 100% of the proceeds will be split between the No Questions Asked Food Pantry, The Julian Center, and The Bali Project.
Pat Nolan’s Whole Feed
Renowned So-Cal photographer Pat Nolan has made any 8×12 photo on his insta feed available for purchase for $60 this week with all profits going to the Minnesota Freedom Fund, Black Lives Matter and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. A great way to add some amazing photography to your wall while doing good.
