Water Shouldn’t Stop You
An untraditional, highly-serious photoshoot conveying Stab’s recommended neoprene for the cold-water season.
The heat of the Australian summer has subsided. And winter growls across the country’s beaches. In honour of the season, we’ve curated a collection of premium rubber to rest atop this digital community. Sublime wetsuits for everyone! Better yet, everything!
Because let’s be honest, wetsuits haven’t improved significantly in the past few years. But a piece of thoughtfully-composed rubber is crucial to enjoying the ocean and we like showing them off. Plus, if you surf regularly, a yearly neoprene expense is akin to servicing your vehicle.
Today, wetsuits are the most comfortable they’ve ever been so you won’t mind the occasional out of the water wear – whether it’s at the gas station, teeing off, picking out quality meat, or sifting through fish at a Mexican market. With that said, it’s in your best interest to take your suit off in the carpark like a respectable member of society. Seriously.
Creed McTaggart wears Billabong.
“The thing about going shopping for a bit of meat is you need to be warm and you need flexibility. You want to be able to get to the top shelf, the bottom shelf, and also want the warmth. Because you’ll be spending a bunch of time in there, making sure you get the right amount of meat and the right meat.”

Harry Bryant wears Zion.
“When looking at a wetsuit, you want something that’s good on your pores. You’re sitting here for, how long? An hour and a half? You need to be relaxed, and your pores need to be rejuvenated.”

Connor O’Leary wears Quiksilver.
“The wetsuit didn’t restrict and it went with me. It’s easy to get to the steering wheel, no rash, I can drive all day in it with no worries.”

Ozzie Wright and Kobi Clements wear Volcom.
“Kobi’s drinking three litres of iced slurpee and he’s freezing, so it’s lucky he did wear his wetsuit tonight. I didn’t even get a popcorn rash, and I had the jumbo size. This wetsuit’s incredible.”

“The flexibility of the suit was phenomenal. It allowed me to really extend on my jumps and helped me to glide through the air while getting no rash and staying warm.”

Chippa Wilson wears Adelio.
“Right now I’m sitting down in Mexico in my full suit. We’re just down here at a local beach choosing out some fish to cook up. It’s real flexible, so I can reach in and grab what I want. It’s pretty smelly down here, too, you pick up a fish and all this gunk and stuff starts pouring out. So it’s been keeping the smell off me.”

Soli Bailey wears O’Neill.
“The flexibility in the wetsuit really comes into play when you’re swinging the club to hit that ball and bending down to put that ball in its tee. I really like it because it keeps your muscles warm, so you’re always prepared to smash the ball and win your round of golf.”
