Photolyfe: Peter Jovic
Fresh starts and fine frames with the ‘stay at home dad’.
Welcome to PhotoLyfe, in which Stab’s favourite photographers answer questions about themselves with their own images. It’s that old picture-tells-a-thousand-words chestnut but with more colour and pop. It’s a way to cut out all the bullshit. It’s like jacking into the main vein of those who supply us with exquisite surf imagery every day. Give thanks by studying each image with a more careful eye than ever!
Meet Peter Jovic, a lensman Stab has followed for some time now. Delivering almost daily updates from the western shores of Australia, Peter’s Instagram account can regularly leave a desk-bound individual with the taste of envy. Nevertheless, the image and wave quality he captures ensures he always has a place in our daily feed.
“Four years ago, I went to the North Shore of Hawaii with my young family,” says Peter. “I came back to Perth in Western Australia to a well-paying job and quit the following day. I’ve been a stay-at-home dad ever since and I shoot nearly every single day. I’m addicted… So, I moved the family to Margaret River (a fine place to reside if you are shooting waves every day). I’ve had some horrific injuries over the years whilst shooting – but I’ll always go back for more!”
