Welcome to PhotoLyfe, in which Stab‘s favourite photographers answer questions about themselves with their own images. It’s that old picture-tells-a-thousand-words chestnut but with more colour and pop. It’s a way to cut out all the bullshit. It’s like jacking into the main vein of those who supply us with exquisite surf imagery every day. And right now, it is Stab‘s wish for you, the reader, to peer into the world of Mr Morgan Maassen, 23 years old and from Santa Barbara, CA. Like most shooters, Morgs started out as a hobbyist, and in the blink of a, ahem, shutter, Morgs had Kelly Slater, Dane Reynolds, Craig Anderson, Steph Gilmore and more on speed dial. And it’s reciprocated – Morgs surrounds himself with the best, and they trust him because he always delivers. France, Tahiti, Hawaii and Indo stamps frequent his passport pages (plus a whole lot more), and Morgs’ real charm lies in his fondness of the ever-expanding universe, because really, his life ain’t just about shooting surf photography…
