Los Angered by Dion Agius

Dion Agius’ new signature kicks, the Los Angered, are now out in the world. Aerial brilliance aside, Dion is also known for looking at surfing through a varied lens, influenced very much by the world outside of surf. So, outta all the walks of life he’s seen, and everything he’s absorbed through his travels, what shined back through in the design process? “I worked with the designers at Globe to try and create a very clean and timeless hightop silhouette with an updated angular aesthetic,” he says. “They spent a lot of time sourcing fine grain leathers to give the shoe an extremely soft feel that’s very comfortable from the first wear.” He ain’t wrong – it’s supple. And, which of those palates spend most time on D’s feet? “We just released the black on black colourway which I really, really like. It’s very minimal and discreet.” But, what about pouring all your creative juices into something and hoping it comes back right? “I’m lucky because the designers at Globe are some of the best in the world,” continues Dion. “Globe has specialised in shoe production for almost two decades now, so the knowledge they have of shoe design is incredible. I got really nervous before we got the first samples back, ’cause having a pro shoe was something I’ve always dreamt of, but I’m really proud of what we came up with and I couldn’t be happier with how the Los Angered has turned out.”
