Chippa Wilson’s Usual Freakshow And A Collab Stab Digs
Come for Chip’s trickery, stay for Slowtide’s latest release.
Chris ‘Chippa’ Wilson needn’t the extended introduction; the unofficial Mayor of Cabarita has been relentlessly splashed across the walls of Stab over the last handful of weeks.
During this time we’ve celebrated his skills on a soft board, documented his very productive relations with filmmakers and gawked when he just straight blew up in the recent material we saw of him in New Zealand and Panama.
Now we have another offering to lay out at the feet of Stab’s digital shrine to Chris Wilson; a collaboration with towel connoisseurs, Slowtide.
Nothing compares to the soft feel of a brand new sheet of terrycloth.
With their latest release, not only do we get our mitts on a bite-sized bundle of Chip stretching his legs at home and in New Zealand on a friction-free Rabbit’s Foot (shaped by Troy Elmore), but we get a link to his retro flavoured towel that just went live on Slowtide’s webstore.
We’ve been forthright in declaring our affection for Slowtide’s previous collaborations and Chip’s towel is no different, if anything, after watching the accompanying clip (shot and spliced by Dan Scott) and taking a closer look at the hero piece, this might be our favourite yet. Seriously, the finless material is downright mind-blowing.
“(Slowtide) They’re killing it, they’re doing a really good job,” says Chip. “That’s a big one, having to design towels every season!”
“They had a plan to do a 70s wallpaper kinda design,” said Chip on his signature moisture absorber. “It’s pretty cool. Hopefully people are into it and buy one or two [laughs].”
According to the info we received, Mr Wilson’s signature towel features a premium 30×60 100% cotton towel with vintage colours and a touch of checkerboard.
Slowtide towels are crafted with form & function in mind. Soft-hand, sheared cotton velour face plays host to our vibrant prints, while equally complemented by the plush and absorbent looped terry back. Eye-catching designs, fast drying and the ideal travel accessory for any adventure.
