Learn When To Duckdive And When To Bail With Nathan Florence
Seriously useful info from an authoritative source.
Does the title of this post seem a little… novice-y?
Well get over yourself, ya salty barnacle. I’ve been surfing for over 20 years and still found much of the above info enlightening and applicable.
Because it happens to all of us. A big set coming, or maybe just a fearsome double-up, and we’re right where Turtle told us not to be. The question is, to bail or not to bail?
I’m generally a proponent of bailing (so long as you’re not putting others in harm’s way), as I’ve broken far more boards duckdiving than when I ditch, but Nathan Florence has made me reconsider this position with his recent Youtube Masterclass.
For instance, that little bit about turning your board on its side when duckdiving big whitewater is fascinating. I’ll give it a go this week and report back.
Hopefully you can learn something too.
