Watch: The Most Wildly Talented Plus-Sized Surfer…Ever
Weslley Dantas’ cat-to-fat ratio is beyond comprehension.
Weslley Dantas is the definition of progressive-power surfer.
The only other surfers on earth who can lay claim to that title are Dane Reynolds and Jordy Smith, both of whom have more tact in their approach but less intrinsic brutality than the Brazilian.
According to CT coach Stace Galbraith, no one has a better “weight to pop” ratio than Weslley. And who could disagree? The sheer altitude that he’s reaching on waves half his height and 1/10 his girth is astounding. Then we look at Weslley’s face surfing, and it’s hard to recall a surfer who’s ever thrown so much water.
Pancho? Sunny? You tell me.
Either way, I’d imagine getting baptized by Weslley’s spray would feel less like rain and more like a bag of bricks falling on your head.
Put simply, Mr. Dantas is one of the most impressive surfers I’ve ever seen. Perhaps the only person more impressive is whoever the hell glasses his surfboards—how Weslley isn’t pushing through them on every snap, carve, let alone full-rotes to the flats, is beyond me.
Please ignore the film quality and enjoy.
