Watch: Surf Filmmaker Dan Shetron’s Dramatic Portrait Of Los Angeles In Lockdown
“It was all very surreal, I’d have to say.”
The last few months under lockdown in Los Angeles have been, well, trying.
One of the country’s COVID hotspots, since March Angelinos have been forced to confront a plethora of challenges trying to live, work, and remain safe and sane.
LA-based surf filmmaker, Dan Shetron, the man behind Red Bull and WSL’s masterful “People Watching” series, took the opportunity to turn his camera and microphone on what was happening around him, and the stories of everyday LA folk’s experience during the pandemic. The film is as heartbreaking as it is gorgeous, and though this has exactly zero to do with surfing, there’s no arguing that a short film like this is necessary viewing right now.
That said, we’ll drop Dan’s remarkable World Tour showreel below. Call it the honey to make the medicine go down.
