Watch: Waco, Texas, Home Of The World’s Best Aerial Surfing
A sizzlin’ pool session with Parker Coffin, Eric Geiselman, Jett Schilling, Crosby Colapinto, and Eithan Osborne.
Walking out of Agenda on Friday afternoon, Stab received a near-breathless phone call from Parker Coffin, the over-amped Santa Barbaran barely able to speak, surf-drunk and delirious from his day-long pilgrimage to progressive surfing’s man-made Mecca in the dry desert heat.
Parker had flown into Texas to meet up with Eric Geiselman, Jett Schilling, Crosby Colapinto, and Eithan Osborne (pronounced A—tawn) for a progression session in the new American Wave Machine pool in Waco, all five of them setting eyes on her dyed-emerald waters for the very first time.
“I’m already trying to figure out how to get back!” Parker wheezed, echoing the very same sentiments we’d heard from literally everyone who had returned from the BSR Cable Park. “It’s literally one of the best things I’ve ever done. Everyone was amping, psyching each other up, trying shit they’d never done before. And it never gets repetitive. I was trying to explain to someone that, it never gets boring, because every wave is still so different. You might have an idea of what it’s going to do, but it’s water. It’s never the same thing twice. But it’s the craziest air ramp you could ever ask for. We’re already making plans to try and get back in next week! [laughs]”
With the production set quality of Waco wildly apparent to surfers and brands alike, we’re sure to be seeing plenty of amp reels like this one coming through our feed, and while the pool’s New Toy shine might dull, for now the novelty’s still got us psyching for a different type of desert strike than we’re used to…
