Watch: Blue Collar Australian Surfing
Introducing someone who is allegedly not the great great grandson of Captain Cook.
In the year 1770, Captain James Cook sailed past (what has since come to be known as) Cape Solander and into (was has since come to be known as) Botany Bay, just south of (what has since come to be known as) New South Wales’ capital city, Sydney.
According to Wikipedia, all of Captain Cook’s children died before they could have kids of their own. This means he has no direct descendants, which implies Nathan Joel Cook couldn’t possibly be related to the notorious seafarer.
Hell of an intro, eh?
The 23(ish)-year-old hails from Avoca (hey Ace) but lives in Cabarita (hey Chip) and has traveled to Hawaii, Indo, and beyond (see clip). He surfs with a style that is uniquely Australian and carries immense power in his hindquarters. He’s progressive but not showy and doesn’t shy away from the tube.
Reminds me of Reef Heazlewood but with 20% less pop.
