Watch: A Homemade, Full-Length Surf Film from Australia’s Sunny Coast
Making lemonade.
Remember Coronavirus?
Well, it’s been just about a year since this pathology kicked the world in the teeth, giving us homosapiens an excessive amount of time at home. Rather than get caught up in a sourdough trend or try their luck on Tik Tok, filmmaker Tai Jennison tapped fellow Sunny Coast locals Alister Reginato, Cooper Davies and Noah Stocca to make an actual full-length surf film (and we couldn’t be happier about it).
The death of the surf film has been long and slow, with Instagram/Youtube showing no mercy while slowly stamping out the long-lauded art form. While COVID-19 has been a terrible moment in time, how cynical would we be if we didn’t rejoice in the positive things that came from these unprecedented circumstances?
The crew’s surfing as a whole is well-rounded, and with 12 months to film, they scored the quintessentially Australian waves that make the island-nation such a hot surfing commodity. Turns, tubes, and airs on wedges, the film’s emphasis is clearly on fun both in and out of the water, and boy do these guys know how to have a good time…
So put those feet up, grab a libation (or a lunch break) and enjoy the Sunny Coast’s ‘Home Bros’. Those two-weeks in a hotel ain’t looking so bad, now are they?
