It’s Time To Bring Back Surf Film’s Unwritten Values
Ian Crane, Dylan Goodale, Weeman and more beat that Hawaiian drum!
Relatable. That’s how this documentary by VZ was pitched to Stab. But Ian Crane’s backhand isn’t relatable, nor are Dylan Goodale’s airs, or Weeman’s height (unless you’re a little person, or 10 and yes, he’s in this film!).
What is relatable is the vibe. The 50’s come-to-Hawaii narration. The high-fives, beers, little bikinis and what lies between the surfing. What we dug about this 20-plus minute film, was it returns to surfing’s old fashioned value: a good time.
So, we’ll let the World Surf League use that gross word “sport”. While it’s easy to break keyboards over heat scores, judges, advertisements, cigarettes, tight jeans, this text, and that dude who burnt you this morning, remember the ocean produces an infinite amount of waves. And, riding them is life’s highest pleasure! For us, that’s what Ha’Wildlife starring John Jackson, Weeman, Tyler Bereman, Parker Coffin, Ian Crane, Dylan Goodale and Tanner Rozunko represents. And it’s why we ask you to loosen your belt, pour a glass of red, pair it with cheese and charcuterie and hit that triangle. Or better yet, go down to the liquor store and buy a 40oz and a bag of Flaming Hot Cheetos.
