Tomas Hermes “Aspect” Is A 10-Minute Lyric-less Poem Well Worth Your Undivided Attention
A year on tour with creative power couple Tomas Hermes and Ana Romanio.
How often do you watch a surf flick these days and find yourself surprised?
If we’re being honest, rarely.
But this morning we were greeted to a true gift in our inbox: a note from Tomas Hermes, and his new ten-minute flick filmed by his loving lady, Ana Romanio.
“At the end of last year, I was wondering what we were going to do with the shoots of the year. I thought of several things, and also many people gave me ideas to make a video about the tour, or talk about the trips, or make money offering to a TV channel,” Tomas tells
Stab.
“But talking a lot with Ana, she simply said, “Why do not you edit it on your way, with your look? And that’s it!”.
“And that was it! Not thinking about anything else or the “commercial” things, I managed to make a 10-minute film (with the initial idea being at most 8 minutes). I created more things in the edition than I imagined—I returned to have an interest in learning, I attended many editing tutorials; something I had not done in a long time.”
“It is difficult to explain, but even in the surf I felt that I evolved by editing and perceiving closely the details and movements.
This movie represents one aspect of the year, and it was made with love.”
