The Thrill Is Back: The Wedge 1996
“The Wedge is fun, you can do airs and get barreled.”- Nathan Fletcher
Southern California’s premiere big wave shorebreak has been making headlines for years. Ever since the the jetty’s construction in 1936, men have tried to tame The Wedge and have come out with strained necks, crooked backs and sand packed skulls. It’s not for the faint of heart nor is the ideal place to bring your date on a jetski.
This is the latest installment of Herbie Fletcher’s The Thrill Is Back, the archival footage continues to hit pixels and this edition is a Fletcher family affair. Not sure what’s more concerning, the ’90’s blood rave soundtrack, the inverted and reversed caverns or the psychedelic colour scheme; whatever it is, it’s purely the brain child of Mr Fletcher.
